Personal sites. Sites that I have either designed and coded, or I have been involved with in either an
artistic or technical capacity at one time or another.
A site designed by my youngest sister and my father, in the hopes of providing good references
for other terminally ill children and their parents. A very popular and very complete site.
My involvement was strictly technical, with the exception of the main graphic.
What began as a rather beer soaked idea at a Bourbon Tabernacle Choir show has become the largest
independent, non-commercial listing of Canadian Music on the internet available anywhere. It's an ongoing work that generally
gobbles a couple hours a week, to add to the 1000+ bands that are currently listed.
I gave up working "freelance" for a long time. Not even sure why really, but partially because I design slowly at times. Pages I can write very fast, but, design takes time. So, when this project was tossed my way, they had a look in min already, and, a handful of hours later, voila! a new site. nice to be back at work. ;-)
Another local band here in Vancouver, a project started by a call from my brother, seeing if I felt like doing a site. sure....very green, an odd color for me to work with.
A few pieces of email later, and I found myself designing a web site for an incredible pair
of women with an incredible CD. Designed entirely via email since Myra lives in Banff and Gudrun lives in
Germany. Not my first commissioned piece, but one of my nicer works that I managed to learn an awful lot
through.
Jenish House Designs has had Hathaways working on their computer equipment for nearly 20 years.
Another person had done the original work on this site, and handed it over to me when their schedule
could no longer accomodate the update demands. Lotsa bright colours, nice houses. Update : This site had a HUGE overhaul, jan/2000.
I've known all of the people involved with this site for a very long time, so when the question of
"could you give us a hand making a web site" came up, I was pleased to get involved. The site is a joint
effort between 5 people and took FAR more time than I originally though it would. But, for all the effort,
it was worth the end result. A rather fetching site, and the #1 reason why it took me so long
to get a new site together for myself...Warning : if you are offended by nudity or are a clay rights activist, some
of this site might be found offensive.
Tim is a long time friend (and now landlord...) of mine who asked me to help put his great a cappella
band onto the web. The two of us did the orginal design, and Tim purportedly continues to maintain the site.
The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir
Original inspiration for the Canadian Music Home Page, now proudly hosted here...unfortunately, also now deceased...or at least MIA.
Related to The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, thus also hosted here...
Wire, the NWHQ mailling list
Total abuse of techical might, but, Elizabeth is a friend, and, an artist, and she needed a home for the mailling list. Done. Highly original writing, highly entertaining.
Oh, I'd die for the chance to host the web site here, but, for this point, I host the majordomo mailing list only
Never chosen as any site of the day.
